ABOUT THE ARTIST

Alicia Blach is a Colorado-based artist and longtime art educator whose work explores emotion, memory, and connection through bold color and expressive simplicity. With more than two decades of experience nurturing creativity in others, Alicia brings that same sense of curiosity and reflection to her own painting practice. Her paintings are inspired by the beauty and rhythms of rural life, often reflecting the interplay of light, land, and sky.

Whether abstract or representational, her work invites viewers to pause, breathe, and feel, offering moments of quiet reflection and emotional resonance. Rooted in place and feeling, Alicia’s art is shaped by a deep appreciation for the landscapes, stories, and experiences that surround her.

A NOTE FROM ALICIA

I am drawn to the landscapes I know best—the open skies and quiet fields of the eastern Colorado plains. Here, where horizon lines stretch endlessly and light shifts with subtle drama, I find both my subject and my metaphor.

Layered colors and soft gradients suggest the time of day, mood, and atmosphere, each painting is rooted in soil, sky and story.

I’m fascinated by how color can carry feeling, how space can create pause, and how art can slow us down in a fast-moving world.

Alicia has amazing classes that are both fun and educational. I always thought I was a terrible artist but Alicia step-by-step teaching makes it easy to create something beautiful. I loved every painting I’ve done and my favorite class was one using a trowel. Each of her classes is unique and inspiring.

I love Alicia's teaching style.  She was engaged and  supportive, and very generous  with her time. She gave me great critique, and helped me solve some problems with my painting. I felt very encouraged by her constructive critique.

I felt at ease almost immediately. Alicia was an incredible teacher in every way.  The studio was amazing.  I left much more curious and less intimidated.

I have participated in several of Alicia Blach’s art classes.   As an instructor she gives very clear direction which is extremely helpful for a rookie artist wannabe like me!   Her patience knowledge and creativity keeps the class fun and interesting.   The end result always gets me excited for her next one.

I look forward to every painting class that Alicia does! Alicia is so bubbly and fun and always positive. The atmosphere is comfortable and it’s a great time, every time!

Alicia conducted a painting class for a corporate group.  She was a fantastic instructor and put everyone at ease.  We allotted two hours for the class and finished a little earlier, but they were all eager to spend time with her afterwards. She’s a true professional and everyone left loving their painting!

The funny part is most people treat gesso like an afterthought, when it is doing half the work before you even touch paint.
