WORKSHOP: PAINTING THE WORLD DIFFERENTLY THROUGH YOUR SENSES

Escape the routine and join Alicia Blach for an immersive, hands-on session designed to awaken your creative flow and bring the landscapes that move you to canvas. Inspired by Alicia’s lifelong connection to the vast skies and shifting fields of northeastern Colorado — where shapes form, color dances, and energy fills the space between line and form.

Whether you’re returning to the easel after a break or diving into new territory, this day invites you to loosen up, follow your hand, and paint from the inside-out. No experience required — just curiosity, color, and a willingness to discover how movement, memory, and place can become your next piece of art.

DETAILS

  • Duration: 3 days, 6–8 hours per day (with light breaks and time to reflect)

  • Supplies: Canvas (24″×30″ recommended) and paints provided; bring your favorite brush if you like

  • Location: Studio in Colorado (or inquire about private/solo workshop options)

  • Investment: $1700

  • Space: Limited to 10 participants to ensure individual feedback

  • Bonus: Each participant leaves with an “artist reflection sheet” to continue your creative momentum at home

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Begin with expressive gesture drawings, tapping into movement, rhythm, and flow.

  • Explore how shape, line and color interplay to define landscape, emotion and memory.

  • Work with texture, looseness and expansive mark-making to capture the essence of place rather than the literal view.

  • Receive personal guidance from Alicia as you translate inspiration into a developed painting you’ll take home.

  • Be surrounded by a small, focused group (or even in a private session) so you can move at your pace, ask questions, and lean into your unique voice.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching is rooted in play, simplicity, and experimentation—the same principles that guide my painting. I encourage students to begin with intuition rather than a strict plan, exploring how color can convey emotion, how space can create pause, and how art can slow us down in a fast-moving world. Like my own work, my approach invites reflection and connection, helping students engage deeply with both the creative process and the feelings that emerge along the way.

Alicia has amazing classes that are both fun and educational. I always thought I was a terrible artist but Alicia step-by-step teaching makes it easy to create something beautiful. I loved every painting I’ve done and my favorite class was one using a trowel. Each of her classes is unique and inspiring.

I have participated in several of Alicia Blach’s art classes.   As an instructor she gives very clear direction which is extremely helpful for a rookie artist wannabe like me!   Her patience knowledge and creativity keeps the class fun and interesting.   The end result always gets me excited for her next one.

I look forward to every painting class that Alicia does! Alicia is so bubbly and fun and always positive. The atmosphere is comfortable and it’s a great time, every time!
